DEATH IS CERTAIN AND GETTING CLOSER : )

A king use to ask all sadhus who came near his palace, as to why did they became sadhu? On not getting a proper reply, he would put the sadhus behind bars. A Saint also went near the king’s palace , and when the king asked him the same question, he replied, “ i became a sadhu because i know that death is certain and it is getting closer”. At this King, his prime minister and his other group of ministers laughed laudly as they thought everyone knows this fact. The king ordered this saint also to be put behind bars. When the saint entered behind bars and was asked to work. The work he was asked to do, started happening automatically. The king heard this news and bowed down at the feet of the saint. The king also immediately ordered all sadhus to be released. But, the saint said he would not leave till he proves his answer. He had a private meeting with the king and asked the king to just give a false order that his kingdom’s prime minister would be hanged till death , one week from today. Now when this news reached the prime minister , he just started thinking about his death. Now, he didnt find pleasure in food, clothes or anything. And on being asked as to why is he behaving so, he said now i know my death is certain and its getting closer. When revealed of the falseness of the king’s order, he realised his mistake of laughing at the saint’s words. Similarly, we all feel that we know that death is certain and its getting closer.Therefore, We dont like to talk about death and do the needful (knowing ourself and connecting with God) before death. We are busy in our so called pleasures as though there is no other purpose of human birth. But when we get to know really our death , we will also become ascetic (sadhu : ) from our heart : ), but then it will be too late. So, don’t take much time as its certain and getting closer : )
