There was a small family, consisting of father, mother and a son, who was 10 years old. This family was  not rich but the father manages to get food etc. for the family easily with his  small earning. Now, the problem was they were not happy, their small intellect was showing them dreams for something and they they thought that once their dream comes true, they will be happy.

One day Lord Shiva and Parvati, happen to discuss about this family. Parvati asked Shiva to give a boon to each one of this family members , so that they become happy. Shiva said to parvati, they have everything to be happy now, as they are, but since they do not accept their blessings , they are under the spell of dreams. Parvati again requested Shiva to grant them a boon each.

So, Shiva first asked the lady of the house to ask for her boon, The lady  asked Shiva to make her the most beautiful women on earth. Shiva granted the request. And went away to show Parvati the reactions of the lady’s  wish got fulfilled. As soon as the lady became the so called ideal beauty, she started praising herself looking at the mirror, but when she saw her husband, who was still the same  fellow with so called average face and conditions. She thought how could she stay with this man any longer, there  is no comparison at all.

In the mean time a prince riding on his horse, happen to see this so called beautiful lady. He simply made her sit on the horse along with him. The lady did not protested and sat next to prince happily. This made her husband very very angry. And, at this moment shiva appeared before him and  asked him for his boon, he said since his wife is such a betrayer, turn her into a sow (female pig). Shiva granted his request. The prince who was riding the horse, thought since such a beauty is sitting behind him, he should have a look at her again. As he turned his head back, there was no beauty , only a sow. He got mad and threw the sow with his hand and rode the horse away.

Now, Shiva asked the 10 year old son for his boon, the little boy got angry at Shiva,” My family was happy as it was, you came and said “ask for a boon, ask for a boon” now my father is angry and my mother is turned into a sow. Now, please grant my boon and make us as we were, and please dont come here agian”. Shiva smiled and accepted his request and went away to see parvati , who realised her mistake by then.

So, people do not know that God has already blessed them as they are.  People do not accept this fact therefore  they themself make their life a hell, they keep hoping for their dreams coming true, which rarely happens , and even if it happens , they start dreaming for their life as it was earlier, but by then it is too late. People must open the gifts which God has already given to them and for knowing about the gift they must go to  attend satsang,  do meditation and celebrate their existence : )
